: : Well, I've been sitting out with him for over an hour now, watching. I guess he IS eating- bits of dry leaves, green vines, etc. Still doesn't seem interested in anything else. I tried mixing some karo syrup, oil and molasses up but he won't touch it. And he fights like a wildcat against the bottle. So my question is- does he HAVE to get the formula? I poured it into his water- that's the only way I can get it down him, even though very diluted. He's a sweet little guy and getting tamer every day. Also I've been reading up on goats online- sounds like I definitely want to get him neutered soon....
At one month of age, he really should still be on the bottle. Although he is nibbling on things, his little rumen isn't developed enough to handle only solid foods to keep him in good shape. I would still try a bottle or maybe you could get him to drink from a bowl, that works sometimes. The more you handle him the more tame he will become. Since he is a little buck and if you intend to keep him as a pet, you will definitely want to neuter him. Bucks are stinky boys! :-)
