I castrate all bucks kids by 8wks old unless they have potential for breeding. I am not familiar with castration techniques for males this old.

Bucks can be more aggressive during the mating season. I do not ever take my eyes of my bucks when they are in rut.

Wethers are more mild in my opinion, they do not have the hormonal influence like bucks. And it is the hormones that turn on scent glands in the head near the horns that makes them smell. And bucks will also urinate on themselves and that stinks too! Wethers don't urinate on themselves and don't develop scent glands.

His horns won't develop as large as an uncastrated male. A lot depends on the breed and genetics. But he will develop a good set of horns.

: We have a 4 month old male nubien. Will he get mean if he is not castrated? Also, what causes the males to have an odor if not castrated. How big will his horns get if he is castrated? I want him to remain the same loveable pet that he is now.
